Is your cutlery resistant? What can we use them with?

The sturdiness of the cutlery is what our R&D team, which consists of 2 agricultural engineers, worked on for more than a year. A thorough research on the composition, production process, design, industrial transfer and development of specific equipment and machinery has been made to create cutlery with the following properties:

- The cutlery doesn’t break and can be used with all kinds of sweet and savory dishes.

- The cutlery doesn’t alter the taste of the food you are eating.

- Even completely immersed in hot water at 70°C, the cutlery will last for more than 5 minutes. That’s why they are well adapted for eating soup for example.

- Completely immersed in cold water, the cutlery can last more than 6 minutes. They are therefore perfect to use with cold and wet desserts or to accompany drinks.

What is its most common use?

Most of our clients use our spoons for entries (spreads, hummus, tapenade) or for desserts (chocolate mousse, fruit compote, fraisier cake). Forks are most used for appetizer buffets. 

What does the cutlery taste like?

The taste of the cutlery is neutral enough not to overpower the dishes you have prepared. It tastes similar to rusk or Italian breadstick.

It has a slightly salty flavor that combines nicely with sweet desserts.

What is the texture of your product?

The texture of the cutlery feels pleasant in the mouth. It’s crunchy with a smooth finish and a shape that is adapted for its use.

Should we eat the cutlery?

Sure, more than 85% of our clients end their meal on a high note by eating our cutlery.

You can also leave it. Unlike plastic which takes more than 300 years to disappear, pollutes nature and disrupts marine ecosystems, our cutlery will decompose in only a few days.

Is your cutlery vegan?

Yes, it’s made of wheat flour, rapeseed oil, and salt, so it’s completely vegan!

Do you sell cutlery kits?

How can I get a sample?

Where and how is our edible cutlery made?

Our cutlery is made in Île-de-France by Koovee from start to finish. Our production method is a secret. But you can be sure that all our raw materials are locally sourced in order to minimize our ecological footprint.

Can I find your product in shops or grocery stores?

No, orders are currently placed through our website.

Is there a risk of the cutlery breaking during transportation?

The packaging provided guarantees optimum protection of the products. So don’t worry, your cutlery will arrive safe and sound. We always add some extra cutlery as well! 

Which countries do you deliver to?

We deliver all over Europe.

Is there a Use-By date (UBD)?

There is no Use By Date (UBD) but a MDD/ULD: minimum durability date/ or best before date. This is 4 months. Only if the use-by date is exceeded is there a risk to health.

How are Koovee's edible cutlery products packaged?

For orders of 15 units, the cutlery is wrapped in a single biodegradable bag. For orders below 500 units, the cutlery is packed in biodegradable bags containing 100 units each.

What are the advantages compared to bioplastic (PLA)?

Koovee brings a whole new customer experience by creating surprise and adding a little extra crunch to finish your meal in style! Much more than just ordinary cutlery, it is the promise that we can happily consume sustainably!

Koovee also offers a zero-waste solution that is much more ecological than bioplastic. Indeed, bioplastic is not necessarily biodegradable according to current existing standards. If it is biodegradable, it only decomposes in specialized high-temperature industrial compost (with a temperature higher than 60ºC). But PLA recycling channels are not so developed and access to this type of facility is rather difficult. Bioplastic also often contains a large proportion of pure plastic. Why did you create Koovee?

The real motivation of the project is ecological: in France there are 4.7 billion plastic spoons thrown away every year, and they take about 300 years to degrade. In the world every year 9 million tons of plastic end up in the oceans. Koovee offers a zero waste alternative that re-enchants the takeaway experience at controlled costs.

The Koovee team wakes up every morning to pave the way to the ecological transition. We see it as a beautiful opportunity to reinvent the way we consume and trade and our relationship to different ecosystems.

Are you the first?

We are the first to sell edible cutlery made from wheat flour. It took us more than a year of R&D to be able to offer a solid product made from French raw materials. 

Why not use stainless steel cutlery? 

We cater for 'nomadic' uses: picnics, take-away salads, etc...
